Marriage Makes a Word of Difference
Emmy award-winning filmmaker Fran Rzeznik of Guilford has created a remarkable film, Marriage Makes a Word of Difference, which portrays the personal struggles and political challenges of Connecticut's same-sex couples and their families who are fighting for the freedom to marry. Many of these loving couples have been in committed relationships for more than a decade, but despite their dedication to each other, they continue to be denied the respect, dignity, and legal protections that marriage provides. Through compelling interviews and archival and "slice of life" footage, Marriage Makes a Word of Difference celebrates our common humanity, and shows why marriage equality is a fundamental civil right.

“The more people get to know their gay and lesbian neighbors, the more they support our rights, including the right to marry. This film gives voice to same-sex couples, and makes a critical contribution to how the public thinks about the civil rights struggle of our time.”

“In compelling conversations with Connecticut couples, kids, and their gay and non-gay loved ones, Love Makes a Family puts the focus on the real people harmed by the denial of the freedom to marry. People doing the work of marriage in day-to-day life, those dreaming of a life with a committed partner, and all who care about equality under the law and strong communities have a stake in helping these families end their exclusion from marriage.”
--Evan Wolfson, Executive Director of Freedom to Marry and author of Why Marriage Matters
